For our latest project, Research Practices, we were to choose two phrases from our Contextual Studies work & go on to develop them into ideas.
The two I chose were Subcultural Style & Fashion, Film & Media.
For initial research, I developed the photographs which I took when I was in Berlin on my fish eye camera of local graffiti as well as cool hunting images.
After developing some initial ideas & then design development, I was desperate to look into my other chosen phrase, Fashion, Film & Media.
When I looked up the definition of film, it spoke of a series of animated images being generated. I looked into what this could be interpreted as & immediately thought of tattoos on the body. The moving body is covered by designs & portraits creating its own sequence.
I began taking photographs around Leeds of men who had tattoos over their body. I would later develop these initial photographs of tattoos into a possible print for fabric to be used on my garment.
